The many field kitchens throughout the encampment grounds will soon open for the first meal of the Jubilee: tonight’s supper. As many as 18,000 veterans are already in camp and the Army cooks are prepared to treat their guests to their first meal. Mess kits were issued to each veteran upon arrival and extras are on hand in each field kitchen to accommodate lost items.

We don’t know yet if Yankee and Rebel will share meals together or if the veterans from either side will stick to their former comrades in arms.

Between June 29th and July 4th, 2013 our posts will come to us courtesy of the “blogging time machine” we have secretly and mysteriously sent a century into the past to the site of the Great Reunion at Gettysburg.
